Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University (SHZQU) and JAKA Robotics Inc. officially inaugurated the Zhongqiao-JAKA Robotics Industry Institute in a grand ceremony held at the university. The event, themed "New Momentum for Industry-Education Integration, New Paradigm for Talent Cultivation", was attended by distinguished guests from government, industry associations, and partner academic institutions, marking a milestone in nurturing talent for the intelligent manufacturing sector.
This deep collaboration between SHZQU, Shanghai's only pilot university for undergraduate-level vocational education, and JAKA Robotics, a leader in collaborative robots, elevates the university's building majors on industries, locating classrooms in workshops educational practice to a new level.
Zhao Bin, Executive Vice President of SHZQU, stated that the joint institute is a key initiative to break down the invisible walls between the university and enterprises. We aim to move our cooperation from a 'handshake' to being 'hand-in-hand,' shifting from simple addition to deep integration, and building an innovative community of shared growth and prosperity, he said.
Li Mingyang, Chairman and CEO of JAKA Robotics, described the partnership as a model of industry-education integration. JAKA will fully open its technical resources and real-world application scenarios to support the college and jointly cultivate high-end, future-oriented robotics talent, he affirmed.
The Zhongqiao-JAKA Robotics Industry College will operate on a Three Centers, One Base model, comprising a Talent Cultivation and Training Center, a Technical Service Center, an Industrial Technology Innovation Center, and a Productive Teaching Practice Base. This structure aims to create a replicable model of deep industry-education fusion.
At its core, the college will implement an innovative post-course-competition-certificate training system. Key features include:
Integrated Curriculum: Real industrial projects, such as JAKA’s precision assembly and logistics robots, will be incorporated directly into classroom teaching, with living textbooks updated every six months to stay synchronized with technological advancements.
Dual-Appointment Faculty: University faculty will train at JAKA, while over 10 senior JAKA engineers will regularly provide instruction at the university, seamlessly bridging academic theory with industry practice.
Seamless Career Path: Students in the specialized JAKA Order Class will intern on real company projects, with opportunities for priority placement in core technical positions at JAKA upon graduation, truly achieving the goal of training in school, ready for work upon graduation.
During the ceremony, government officials and industry leaders voiced their strong support for the initiative. Additionally, SHZQU signed cooperation agreements with 12 other enterprises, further expanding its collaborative platform for teaching, R&D, and talent development.
