On the morning of September 1, Zhongqiao University hosted the opening ceremony of the 2025 Summer Camp for Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Room 206, Information Building. Visiting DHBW professors and students joined Zhongqiao faculty and student representatives to launch two weeks of cultural exchange and academic activities. The ceremony was moderated by Assoc. Dean Feng Yuqiang, School of International Education.

Executive Vice President Zhao Bin delivered welcoming remarks, noting the university’s commitment to safety and a high-quality experience: “Across mountains and seas, we meet at Zhongqiao. May this summer camp be your window to discover China and experience Shanghai—bringing home knowledge, friendship, and growth.”

Representing DHBW, Prof. Dr. Johannes Kern reviewed the progress of bilateral cooperation and the expansion to multiple campuses. Prof. Wendy shared a personal story about the warmth of Shanghai residents, encouraging students to step beyond their comfort zones. Student speakers followed: Ms. Alessia De Marco (DHBW) expressed excitement about exploring “a country that is both modern and traditional,” while Zhongqiao student Zhou Dingjie extended a warm welcome and best wishes for fruitful study and friendship.

This program aligns with China’s broader youth-exchange vision. In May 2024, China proposed expanding European youth exchanges with China over the next three years. In response, Zhongqiao University launched the YES Program, approved by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE). Building on extensive international experience—partnerships with institutions in Germany, the UK, the US, New Zealand, among others—Zhongqiao has also introduced the “Double-Hundred Initiative,” committing million-RMB-level funding to support hundreds of outstanding students in outbound exchanges.

In recent years, Zhongqiao and DHBW have carried out multi-layered collaboration—from academic exchanges and joint courses to cross-cultural workshops—laying a solid foundation for this year’s camp and furthering the university’s internationalization.

Over the next two weeks, participants will attend lectures, cultural activities, and field visits designed to broaden global perspectives and deepen cross-cultural understanding. Looking ahead, Zhongqiao University will continue to strengthen global partnerships, expand practical exchange opportunities, and support long-term, people-to-people connectivity between Chinese and German higher education communities.
