Crossing Borders, Building Futures: SHZQU Students Join DHBW Summer Program in Europe

Release Time:2025-07-17Views:31

From June 29 to July 11, 2025, a study group from Shanghai Zhongqiao Vocational and Technical University (SHZQU) joined peers from Beijing, Vietnam, and Hungary for the DHBW Summer Program in Lörrach, Germany. The program, themed “Connecting International Friendships, Exploring Diverse Cultures,” offered a rich journey across Germany, France, and Switzerland, combining academic exchange, cultural immersion, and company visits.

The program began with a welcome ceremony and orientation at the DHBW Lörrach campus, where students gained an overview of Germany’s higher education system through speeches and a campus tour. A cross-cultural workshopfollowed, featuring sessions on German culture and practical German conversation, equipping students with communication skills for the rest of the program.

Students also benefited from company visits that bridged theory and practice. At Endress+Hauser, they explored precision instrument development and discussed sustainability with engineers. At the Glatt Group, they learned about innovations in pharmaceuticals and chemical engineering. At the Vitra Design Museum, they experienced cutting-edge architecture and design, participating in a “Design Thinking” workshop to translate creative ideas into real solutions.

The program also emphasized student-to-student exchange. Through a picnic with DHBW’s “Connect” student club, participants bonded over games and food. A pub crawl introduced them to Germany’s beer culture, while a day at Europa-Park fostered teamwork and friendship among students from different countries.

This summer program not only deepened SHZQU students’ understanding of European industry, culture, and education, but also strengthened their global perspective and cross-cultural competence—laying a foundation for future international collaboration and personal growth.
