On July 9, 2024, a delegation of 22 students and teachers from Shanghai Zhongqiao University departed from Shanghai for a seven-day study and cultural exchange tour at Waseda University in Japan. This visit aimed to enhance understanding of Japanese educational philosophy and provide our students and teachers with valuable opportunities to broaden their horizons and foster international friendships.
During the stay in Japan, the delegation had the honor of participating in lectures and seminars conducted by renowned professors from Waseda University. In these sessions, the professors shared their unique academic insights with patient and detailed explanations. They emphasized the crucial role of short-term study abroad experiences in transforming personal perspectives and thoroughly analyzed the evolution of the Japanese labor market in the era of remote work, revealing how policies and technology jointly shape a new work environment. Additionally, through lectures on the history of educational development, students and teachers gained an understanding of the evolution and future trends of higher education in Japan.
Meanwhile, the delegation also explored Waseda University's significant achievements in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence and robotics. They were deeply impressed by the enormous potential and vast prospects brought by technological advancements. Furthermore, by participating in international student exchange activities within Waseda University, students and teachers from Zhongqaio not only bridged the gap with Waseda's international students but also enhanced mutual understanding and friendship.
The visit study also included an in-depth exploration of the operational mechanisms within an airport. Under the guidance of professionals, the delegation experienced wearing aviation uniforms firsthand, gaining practical insights into the aviation service industry. Additionally, through field visits to Mount Fuji and Odaiba, they experienced the stark contrast between natural landscapes and urban settings, appreciating the diversity and uniqueness of Japanese culture.
This study tour to Waseda University in Japan was a journey of international knowledge exploration, building a bridge of academic and cultural communication for students and teachers from Zhongqiao. It broadened the global perspectives of the participants, ignited their passion for knowledge, and fostered expectations for the future. This visit has also brought innovative inspiration and new guidance for future teaching and personal development.
