School of Economics and Management

School of Economics and Management has a history of more than 20 years. In close connection with the five centers, four brands strategy and the development needs of modern service industry in Shanghai, the school has set up three undergraduate majors and eight three-year vocational majors. At present, there are nearly 1800 students in school.

The School adheres to taking service as the purpose, employment as the guidance and combining education with industry and research.

It explores effective ways of education, promotes the reform of education mode and strengthens the cultivation of students' vocational skills as well as comprehensive qualities. It has been approved by the Ministry of Education as vocational undergraduate education pilot, and the trial spot of 1 + X Certificates System. It has Shanghai Quality Courses and Shanghai online Quality Courses.

The School has a well balanced faculty with excellent quality. They are not only proficient in theory but also good at business practice. At present, there are about 120 teachers in all, 27.5% of which are professors and associate professors; 50% of the part-time teachers are from cooperative enterprises.

The School attaches great importance to the training of students' innovation and entrepreneurship. Students participate in various nation-wide or industry-wide skill competitions and gain great achievements. Over the past five years, the employment rate of graduates keeps above 98%. The core competitiveness of the School improves continuously and graduates are widely recognized by the society.The School insists on training vocational talents and carries out characteristic vocational undergraduate education. It emphasizes teaching of practice, strengthens training of ability. Through the teaching mode of combining theory and practice, and work—integrated Learning  the School aims at cultivating high level talents who master theories and technologies, and are capable of complex operations and management. It constructs a diversified and three-dimensional education system, which runs through all aspects of education. Adhering to the concept of “moving enterprises into campus”, it has jointly built over 20 experimental training rooms with enterprises, which can fully meet the needs of interdisciplinary teaching practice.

In the next five years, the School will adhere to the goal of strengthening undergraduates education and refining three-year vocational education. That is to vigorously develop undergraduate majors and optimize three-year vocational majors. It is to build a modern business school with undergraduate education as the main body, and train new business talents with high qualities and good skills to adapt to the future development.
