The Famous Teachers and Craftsmen Leading the Way, Craftsmanship Cultivating Food Talents Food Professional Demonstration Course and Special Lecture Series of the School of Food and Pharmacy will be officially launched on October 24, 2025. The first phase of the event will be held at 9:00 am on the same day in Room 110 of Building 6, and a special guest speaker will be Mr. Zhang Chao, a recipient of the National May Day Labor Medal and a Shanghai craftsman. Teacher Zhang conducted a demonstration teaching with the theme of sugar art, allowing students to intuitively appreciate the skills and style of famous craftsmen through close observation.

Teacher Zhang has been persistently studying professional skills for 14 years and has won honors in multiple domestic and international competitions. He has established an excellent example of professional growth and career development for food and medicine students with his perseverance and pursuit of excellence in his professional spirit, constantly breaking through himself.

In the course, Teacher Zhang not only skillfully completed the work 'Autumn', but also made lollipops with various shapes. He accurately demonstrated key technologies such as temperature control and plastic forming of sugar bodies, as well as various techniques such as drawing and blowing, demonstrating a profound foundation in sugar art. Classmates are fully focused and immersed in the beauty of sugar art, understanding the skills and techniques of sugar art creation. By combining theory with practice, we have gained a practical understanding of the key characteristics of sugar in food technology courses, such as moisture absorption, sand return, plasticity, and glass like properties.
