According to the Notice of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission on the Selection and Accreditation of Shanghai Municipal Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers in 2024 (Shanghai Education Commission High [2024] No. 19), the Food and Pharmacy Comprehensive Experimental Teaching Center has been awarded the title of Shanghai Demonstration Experimental Teaching Center through procedures such as school application, expert letter evaluation, expert meeting evaluation, and on-site inspection.

The experimental center has a leading on campus training base among similar universities to meet the needs of various experimental teaching. The Food and Drug Comprehensive Experimental Teaching Center covers an area of 6800 square meters and has first-class hardware facilities in China. The center is not only equipped with high-end instruments and equipment such as high-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, but also has multiple professional laboratories including pharmaceutical process laboratory, food process laboratory, baking and beverage laboratory, nutrition catering and sensory evaluation laboratory, providing students with a rich practical platform.
The center has a demonstration virtual simulation training base in Shanghai, equipped with 40 high-end computers, 5 VR sets, and more than 30 sets of virtual simulation software, covering food, pharmaceuticals, and other fields
Basic and professional experiments in multiple fields. We have been approved by the Shanghai Vocational Skills Appraisal Center to conduct skill appraisal exams for agricultural product and food inspectors (primary, intermediate, and advanced). Our platform is equipped with advanced equipment and complete functions, which can meet various needs such as teaching practice and training for advanced agricultural product and food inspectors, internal auditors, and public nutritionists. In the past five years, a total of 10.55 million yuan has been invested in the purchase, updating, maintenance, laboratory renovation, and environmental improvement of instruments and equipment.
The center has a well structured and strong faculty team. There are currently over 80 teachers, including more than 30 with associate senior or higher professional titles, over 20 with doctoral degrees, and over 90% of dual teacher teachers. The food quality and safety professional team has been awarded the title of Shanghai Municipal Teacher Teaching Innovation Team, with 11 high-level teachers at the provincial and ministerial levels, forming a strong alliance of high skilled dual teacher teachers+enterprise part-time teachers.
The center relies on the unique location advantage of Jinshan District's food and biopharmaceutical industry cluster, and has established deep cooperative relationships with more than 70 enterprises and third-party testing institutions such as Unilever (China) Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Jinshan Biopharmaceutical Park, jointly building off campus training bases. The center adheres to the integrated education model of school, enterprise, industry, and government and continuously innovates teaching management models. Through methods such as school enterprise cooperation, integration of industry and education, and international exchanges, an open, collaborative, and shared education system has been established, providing students with broader growth opportunities and richer practical opportunities.
The center pays attention to the cultivation of students' practical ability and innovative spirit, and has won many good achievements in Internet plus, Challenge Cup and other competitions, including 2 national bronze awards, 3 Shanghai gold awards, 8 silver awards, and more than 50 bronze awards and winners. These achievements fully demonstrate the significant achievements of the center in talent cultivation.
