The School of Information Engineering was founded in 2003, formerly known as the Department of Information Technology. Along with the increasing demand for talents in the information technology industry, the school has developed into the largest school of the university with the largest number of majors and students.

Meeting the needs of national strategies and focusing on the construction of new engineering courses, the School of Information Engineering has been actively planning for the construction of majors following the pace with the times. At present, the school has three undergraduate majors: Digital Media Technology, IoT Engineering Technology, and Big Data Engineering Technology, all of which have granted for admission qualification as full-time “college to university” programs. The Digital Media Technology is the experimental major of Shanghai “secondary school to university” program; Big Data Engineering Technology is one of the first-class majors in Shanghai. There are eight vocational majors: Computer Application Technology (Shanghai 085 key construction specialty), Computer Network Technology, Digital Media Technology, IoT Application Technology, Big Data Technology (experimental “dual certification” major of Shanghai Education Commission), Computer Application Technology-AI, UAV Application Technology (key construction major in 2023), and Digital Media Technology-E-sports and Webcast. All the majors are industry-education integrated and the experimental of the Ministry of Education 1+X majors (1 examination and 12 experimental majors granted). The School of Information Engineering now has more than 2,500 students and has gradually been upgrading the existing vocational majors to undergraduate majors, and has effectively connected both vocational and undergraduate majors to promote students’ skills.

The School of Information Engineering provide strong supports by the talented faculty with diverse backgrounds and specialties, among which 80% faculty members are double-qualified. The faculty has won prizes such as the Huang Yanpei National Outstanding Teacher Award, Shanghai outstanding teaching team, Shanghai women’s ethical teaching team, the special prize of Shanghai ideological and political course competition, Shanghai “Major Craftsman”, Shanghai “Major Agriculturist”, Shanghai academic and technical leader, national and provincial outstanding young scientists and experts, and IoT outstanding experts. The school has a total of more than 100 full-time and part-time faculty members, including 64 full-time members, 13 of them with deputy senior titles and above, and more than 100 highly skilled talents such as senior technicians of the IoT, senior e-commerce engineers, senior network engineers, senior software engineers, etc.

The school has accomplished numerous scientific achievements. In the past five years, the faculty has presided more than 30 research projects at all levels, including 8 national projects, 10 provincial projects, and published more than 50 papers (1 SCI, 9 EI and 10 Chinese Core journals), 15 textbooks, 4 monographs and 17 patents. Won the first and second prizes of Shanghai Teaching Achievement Awards. Holding two Shanghai high-quality courses and two online open courses.

The School of Information Engineering takes university-industry cooperation as a policy, explores effective ways of training and educating, and has constructed several laboratories. The school has invested more than 20 million yuan to build a computer training center, a digital media training center and an IoT training center, including a leading 270 ° panoramic classroom. At present, there are more than 30 experimental training labs, such as digital communication network technology training lab, IoT basic training lab, VR virtual holographic training lab, photography training lab, 3D digital media interaction training lab, Tencent Cloud Big Data Laboratory training room, iFLYTEK-AI training lab, Lenovo network training lab, smart home training lab, UAV production line training lab, UAV simulation flight training lab, UAV assembly and maintenance training lab, etc.

The school has signed agreements with more than 30 leading enterprises including Huawei, Lenovo, iFLYTEK, Tencent Cloud, New World, ZhuoyueRuixin, promoted the deep integration of industry and education, and achieved a series of achievements. Seven collaborative education projects of the Ministry of Education and one employment-education project of the Ministry of Education have approved. Cooperated with Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai University of Engineering and Technology and other universities to “connect college-undergraduate and undergraduate-postgraduate”. The school has also cooperated with universities such as the Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics in Japan, the Tajen University in Taiwan Province, and the Baekseok University in South Korea, and has carried out regular exchange activities as well as programs for upgrading from college to undergraduate and undergraduate to postgraduate.

In recent years, the faculty and students have participated in more than 40 national and industrial competitions and more than 500 people have won awards, and have repeatedly won prizes at all levels in the Challenge Cup, Internet+, Star Cup, the National Skills Competition of Vocational College (IoT, VR, big data and other events), 3D design creative competition and other events. Graduates are welcomed by employers for their high comprehensive quality and strong professional skills. The employment rate has reached more than 98%, and the professional counterparts rate has remained 82% above.
