On April 19, 2024, Cecilia Sacoto-Patel, Director of Marketing and Admission of Curtin College in Australia, Nancy MA, Marketing Manager of Curtin College, and Zhao Jinlong, Shanghai representative of Curtin University, visited Zhongqiao University. This visit was greeted by President Huo Jiazhen, Dean of the School of International Education Yan Hui, Associate Dean Feng Yuqiang and others.
During the meeting, both parties expressed their intention to collaborate on a joint student training program. The program will arrange a six-month language learning course for students, followed by a one-and-a-half-year preparatory course at Curtin University, and then continue to study for two years at Curtin University to obtain a bachelor's degree. The program highlights the excellent practices of mutual sharing of educational resources and integration between the two universities, and provides students with diverse paths for further education.
In addition to international joint training program, Curtin University will also assist English teacher at Zhongqiao University in course training for English Language Bridge (ELB)， which aims to improve the professional and teaching skills of faculty and better meet the academic needs of students.
Through the joint training model, students will have opportunities to enjoy brand new international education resources and environment, laying a solid foundation for their future academic and professional careers. Curtin University is known as one of Australia's top education institutions, renowned for its practical teaching approach and high-quality research outcomes; while Zhongqiao University is known for its applied disciplines and international cooperation platforms. This collaboration between the two universities will have a positive impact on international reputation and educational quality achievements.
On April 21, Curtin University held the “Curtin on the Bund” event in the Bund area. The main guests attending this event include: John Williams, senior leadership of Consulate General of Australia in Shanghai, Harlene Hayne, Vice President of Curtin University, Zhang Xiaotian, Associate Vice President of Curtin University. Yan Hui, Dean of the School of International Education of Zhongqiao University, Li Mei, the Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, were also invited to the event.
Harlene Hayne pointed out that Curtin University has been 34 years of recruiting Chinese students. The number of Curtin students in China has reached over 17,000. At the end of the event, Curtin University awarded all partner institutions to show their gratitude about contributions and achievements in the collaboration.
Throughout the event, Zhongqiao University and Curtin University demonstrated their abundant educational resources and strong international cooperation relationships, which not only enhanced the international reputation, but also opened a new chapter for the friendship and cooperation between two parties.
