Program Features

This major is one of the first undergraduate programs and key construction majors of the university, and has been entitled by the Ministry of Education to grant the bachelor's degree. Some of the earliest undergraduate graduates have successfully got enrolled into the full-time master's degree programs in domestic and abroad. The faculty of Digital Media is a committed and diverse group with strong backgrounds, the core faculty members have won prizes such as the Huang Yanpei National Outstanding Teacher Award and the special prize of the Shanghai Teacher Skills Competition. More than 5 million yuan was invested to build the leading 270-degree panoramic classroom and VR holographic laboratory. Students majoring in digital media have made outstanding achievements in the skills competition and won prizes such as the first prize of the National University Digital Art and Design Competition, the first prize of the Shanghai Higher Vocational College Film and Television League, the first prize of the Shanghai University E-sports Competition, etc. With the focus on new media, VR/AR technology, digital film and television animation, high-precision 3D printing technology and mobile phone APP technology in the digital internet era, this major will train students' comprehensive ability of both information and communication theory, and digital media technology application and management. Deeply cooperated with leading enterprises such as ByteDance, Tencent, ZhuoyueRuixin, etc., students can undertake practical projects from enterprise at school, which are popular with potential employers. The starting salary of graduates is competitive, and the employment rate in 2022 was 100%. The international communication and cooperation are increasingly close, the department has organized several exchange activities with the United States, the United Kingdom, and carried out cooperation projects with universities in Japan, South Korea and other countries, such as undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

Program Objectives

The aim of the program is to train all-round development of the students with good humanistic, artistic, and aesthetic, adapt to the development of the digital era, have a broader vision and effective communication skills, equip with the basic knowledge, theories and methods of making creative digital production and related software and hardware tools, and be able to carry out practice of developing, producing and managing in media and cultural industry related fields.
